Hygiene and hygienic practices in life are life-threatening for health not only to progress a living atmosphere but also to uplift our thinking to a clean and healthy state. The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the most significant cleanliness campaign by the Government of India is a great start to make India cleaner and greener. It was launched on 02.10.2014 across the country as a national movement. Swachhta has been acknowledged and bestowedhighestsignificance by the government of India. A clean or Swachh mind is produced from a Swachh environment. Teachers and students of the education system need to play the lead role in making the masses aware of the quintessential need for hygiene. The Department of Higher Education resolved to get on the mission through the usualfunctioningpractice on Swachhta for its Institutions setting forth practices that must be implemented at all higher educational institutions.
The Swachhata Rankings exercise has been initiated by the Department of Higher Education to produce healthy peer pressure among higher educational institutions for keeping and upholding hygienic campuses so that the environment for student learning becomes clean and leads to higher thinking. The The Standard Fireworks Rajaratnam College for Women, Sivakasi has been actively participating in the Swachhta Ranking from 2017 onwards.
SwachhtaPakhwada was started in April 2016 with the objective of bringing a fortnight of intense focus on the issues and practices of Swachhta. The main objective of the programme was to create awareness about plastic wastes, its impacts and cleanliness in and around the campus. Swachhta Pakhwada serves in connecting people to the nature and enhancing those actions that make our environment a better place.
