                                               Forty years ago the directors of this company perpetrated a tremendous hoax on the gullible public. The company had suddenly reached the height of financial prosperity. Then all of a sudden the company failed disastrously so that people described it as a “bubble” that had burst .After that the company lost most of its business and was now nothing but a magnificent relic.   

   

Lamb writes of the account books: “The moths, that were then battening upon [the] obsolete ledgers and day-books, have rested from their depredations, but other light generations have succeeded, making fine fret-work among their single and double entries.
