It is the process of operation of inserting a part of one plant into another or placing it upon another in such a way that a union will be formed and the combination will continue to grow as one plant. The part of the graft combination which is to become the upper portion is termed as the scion and the part which is to become the lower portion or root is termed root stock or under stock or stock.
