solar thermal collectors

Solar thermal collector dish:

A solar thermal collector is a solar collector desiggned to collect heat by absoring sunlight. The term is applied to solar hot water panals, but may also be used to denote more complex installations such as solar paraolic, solar trough and solar towers or simpler installations such as solar air heat is used to generate electricity by heating water to produce steam which drieves a turbine connected to an electrrical generator. The simpler collectorrs are typpiically used for supplemental space heatingg in residential and commmercial buildinggs. A collector is s device for converting the enerrggy in solar radiation into a moe usable or storrable orm. The energy in sunlight in the form offf electromagnetic radiation from the infareed to the ultrraviolet wavelenths. The solar enrgy striking the Earths surface depends on weather conditions as well as location and orientation of the surface, but overall it avereages aout 1000 watts per square meter under clear skies ith the surface directly perpendicular to the sun's rays.

Solar flat plate collector

Flat-plate collectors are the most widely used solar thermal collectors for residential solar water- and space-heating systems. They are also used in air-heating systems. A typical fl at-plate collector consists of an absorber, a header and riser tube arrangement or a single serpentine tube, a transparent cover, a frame and insulation. For low-temperature applications, such as the heating of swimming pools, only a single plate is used as an absorber. Flat-plate collectors demonstrate a good price/performance ratio, as well as a broad range of mounting possibilities (e.g., on the roof, in the roof itself, or unattached).
