During this period the gopurams had increased in size. For instance, Madurai Meenakshi Temple Gopuram, Srivilliputtur has the tallest Gopuram.

• Another special feature was the construction of Kalyana Mandapas.
• The spacious mandapas of Nayaks has long corridors with intricacy and decorated majestic tall monolithic pillars.
