The Nayaks of Tanjore built temples, gopurams, Choultries, Agraharas and Jain temples. Sevappa Nayak (1532-1580) was the founder of the Tanjore Nayaks. He renovated various temples of Tanjore, including the Sivaganga Fort at Tanjore. Achuthappa Nayak built the Srirangam Temple Gopurams and Mandapam inside the temple complex. He donated a diamond studded chair to Aranganatha perumal of Srirangam.During this period Mahamagam tank at Kumbakonam was renovated by Govinda Dishita.
