II. Localised (organ specific) Autoimmune Disease
(i) Autoimmune diseases of the Thyroid gland
(a) Hasimoto’s disease (Lymphadenoid goiter)
(b) Thyrotoxicosis (Grave’s disease)
(ii) Addison’s disease
It is caused by lymphocytic infiltration of the adrenal glands and the presence of circulating antibodies.
(iii) Autoimmune orchitis
Allerrgic orchitis with damage to germinal epithelium and aspermatogenesis can be induced.
(iv) Myasthenia gravis
There is an abnormal fatiguability of muscles due to malfunction of the myoneural junction.
(v) Autoimmune diseases of the Eye
(a) Phacoanaphylaxis
(b) Sympathetic optalmia
(vi) Pernicious anemia
Two types of autoantibodies are present in this condition.
(vii) Autoimmune disease of the Nervous system
(viii) Autoimmune disease of the skin.
