Medium is a means through which the advertising message is conveyed to the consumers. The proper selection of the medium, by which the message is to be conveys, must achieve the pre-determined goals. In brief, the following facts, which affect the media may be considered:

  1. Should the advertisement reach and influence the largest portion of the people?
  2. Should it be possible to influence the pre-determined group of buyers?
  3. Should it give a wide coverage at less cost?
  4. There are some important factors, which are to be considered.

The characteristics of the product and its demand:

        
  1. Fund available for advertising.
  2. Nature of market. i.e., different segments.
  3. The nature and extent of competition prevailing.
  4. Medium to be adopted.
  5. Coverage of medium.
  6. The product’s name.
  7. The position of product in the market.
  8. Size of the advertising.
  9. The probable cost of advertising.
